Products for Payday! Long-Division Math SCOOT!

Have you heard the news? There's a TpT sale...just in time for the Products for Payday linkup with Focused on Fifth! I have my store set for a 20% discount during the sale! On top of that, you'll get an extra discount from TpT to save a total of 28% in my store!

I've been working really hard lately to build up my selection of 5th grade math games. I just can't get enough of them! My students love mixing it up and playing games to solidify their learning. This has been my big push area this year in my store!

I want to highlight one of my newest additions today!

Long Division SCOOT Game

This math game helps students practice long-division in a fun, low-stress way. My students ADORE playing SCOOT. In fact, it might be the best chance that I have at getting them to happily perform operations repeatedly!

This set includes 40 long division questions. The questions all have decimals in the dividend. The questions are provided in both an open-ended and a multiple choice format with answer keys for both options as well!

The students can play these games alone or with peers for quick and easy centers or a flawless review activity.

Plus, it's low prep and easy to store! All you have to do is print the questions, cut the strips and produce enough copies of the answering sheet. All set in minutes!

P.S. Isn't my new custom character just adorable? Get your own here!

Here's a sample of the multiple choice option. You can also print them in an open-ended format where the strip includes the question only!

The included answer key makes it super quick and easy to assess students and provide instant feedback to make sure students are on track and attack misconceptions in the moment!

We've been loving this SCOOT game! I also have a multi-digit multiplication SCOOT game for you if you like this one! It also includes decimals to keep your students challenged and engaged with the 5th grade math standards.

Are you looking for a way to get your students engaged in realistic issues that are present in their lives while also practicing important literacy skills?

This resource pairs texts with graphic organizers so students can construct meaning from the text in multiple formats while also preparing to use the information in their own writing.

The graphic organizers lay the groundwork for planning a strong opinion essay!

I also have opinion essay sets for:

You can also grab all four in a bundle!!

My students love having the opportunity to work independently and this set provides them with just that! Plus, it gives everyone a chance to work at their own pace and at their individual instructional level, allowing me to support students where and when they need it the most!

This pack includes interactive notebook foldables that go along with the Matter videos on Scholastic Study Jams! The video content keeps students engaged, creating an easy-to-manage but educational learning opportunity.

I also have interactive Study Jams notebooks for Plants & Solar System!

And now for the item in my cart...

Google Drive Toolkit by Danielle Knight

Danielle Knight has been leading the way with creating DIGITAL interactive notebooks. Since I'm a junkie when it comes to all things digital, I knew that this was right up my alley!

I was struggling with understanding how they really worked and I was lucky enough to catch Danielle on a scope talking about her products. Right then, I had to add this product to my wishlist. It's something that any tech-savvie teacher or seller can't live without.

So, go check that out and take a peek at the rest of her store while you're at it. She's an amazing upper grades seller that I rely on time and time again!!

A VERY Special Request - PLEASE READ!

First of all, Happy Thanksgiving!

Thank you so much for taking time out of your very special day to spend time with me and support me on my teaching, blogging, and entrepreneurial journey!

One year ago, I never would have expected to be where I am today! I've made so many great blogging friends, grown tremendously as a seller and become so inspired by the teacher-blogging network!

I have a desperate plea for you today and I am really hoping that you can help me out. There's something in it for you as well! I promise.

Here's the story...

In August, I started talking with a SMART board retailer to get a project up for Donor's Choose and Chevron's Fuel Your School Program. I worked long and hard with the seller to find a SMART board solution that would suit my needs and also fall within the $1,000 price tag set by Chevron.

I'm sure you can imagine the excitement that I felt when my project was funded and I was set to receive a SMART board. However, that excitement quickly faded when the board arrived at my school. Are you wondering why? The grant written by the retailer ended up only being for the board...no projector!

HOUSTON, we have a problem!!!

I currently possess a $2,400 wall fixture that's unable to be used. My students are asking me constantly when we can use our SMART board and when it's going to be installed. I don't have the heart to tell them that we don't have the projector for it.

So, I did what any sensible teacher would do. I wrote a new project for Donors choose to get a short-throw projector for my classroom so that I can actually put this fabulous, expensive board to use! However, I can't afford to fund the projector alone.

Luckily, it is available for a 100% price match through the weekend using the code "SPARK."

I am begging you to make a donation to our project. In exchange, I'll send you anything you'd like from my store (of equal value) as a thank you. You'll just need to leave a comment with your email and I'll contact you to find out what you want from my store.

I need $400 in matched donations to get our projector and I know that it's possible with all of the love and support that's present in this community!

Please head over to Donor's Choose and then check out my store to get some free materials in exchange.

We are all incredible grateful for your support.

Sunday Scoop - November 22, 2015

Welcome back! I'm thankful to have you here reading my blog. I missed the scoop last weekend and it just didn't feel right!

Here's what's up with me this week...

Have to Do...

The first thing isn't so bad, right? I'm going out to have a little coffee chat with my sister! I haven't seen her for a while so that'll be nice! Plus, who doesn't love coffee on a  Sunday? I also have some books to give to her from my latest Reading Club order!

Let's be honest...does anyone like folding laundry?! Ugh.

I have been telling myself to get some makeup advertisement images made in Canva every day for the past three weeks and I just haven't done it! Why am I so avoidant sometimes? I need to get this done!

Hope to Do...

I do hope to get to the store to pick up some treats for parent teacher conferences. They start tomorrow. What do you like to put out for conferences?

I've been fired up on TpT lately and I would love to keep the momentum up and get something new out there this weekend! I've been working really hard on posting one thing a week.

Happy to Do:

I love the Shameless Sunday show on Blab. If you haven't checked it out, it's on Blab.im at 10:00 am on Sundays and it's fabulous! There are some great bloggers on there and it's great to just network and chat with other teachers!

So...what are you up to this week? Come link up with us and leave a comment below so we can chat!

Cornucopia of Teacher Tips-Easy Unit Organization

I am super excited about the Cornucopia of Teacher tips blog hop that's being hosted by Focused on Fifth! I love AWESOME teacher tips!

Today, I'm going to share with you my favorite method for managing and organizing unit plans! If you're anything like me, you struggle to find a seamless, clean way to organize your unit plans and files.

  PERHAPS YOU'VE TRIED:
- binders
- papers in a filing cabinet
- piles everywhere
- plastic envelopes

Here's what's working for me right now...Google Docs.

LET ME TELL YOU WHY I LOVE IT!
  1. No papers to keep track of. Lightening my load is always worth it. Think about it...there's fewer papers to cart around when you move classrooms!
  2. Quickly locate any resource for your unit at the tap of a button. No more searching and digging through that old filing cabinet, getting up and looking around for the binder with that unit in it, etc.
  3. All files are uploaded to one secure place. You can access them at work, at home, at the dentist office, everywhere.
  4. No more breaking your shoulders carrying those heavy bags back and forth. You can just pop on your phone or computer and there it is.
  5. You can share the unit plans with your teammates so everyone's on the same page and collaborating with resources.

  HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:
  1. Log in to your Google Drive.
  2. Create a folder for the unit. I create my units like this:
    1. I have a folder labeled "Math"
    2. Then I have a folder inside of that for each unit theme that I teach. For example: Measurement, Multiplication, Division, 2D Shapes, etc.
    3. Inside the folder, create the specific unit plan in a Google Doc. For example, in measurement, I will create a Google Doc outlining each step of the unit plan.
    4. Then, I will upload all of my resources into that folder. Some resources have to be scanned into my computer and then upload and others are just saved directly on my computer and upload

Here are some of the unit folders that I have.

Here's what it looks like inside of my measurement folder. There's the files that are uploaded and the Google Doc "Unit Plan."

  HERE'S HOW IT LOOKS:

This is the Google Doc for my 3 week unit on measurement.
The days are outlined.

The videos that go with each day's lesson are hyperlinked for easy access each day.

YouTube videos are put through a system called Purify to clean up the commercials and comments.

The blue hyperlinked items are resources that go along with the lesson. That way, I'll have access to each item next year.

The red words are things that still need to be added as hyperlinks in the document.

  HOW TO HYPERLINK YOUR RESOURCES:
  1. Upload any file into your Google Drive in the correct folder.
  2. Click the "Share" button.
  3. Get the "Shareable link"
  4. Go to the Google Doc and highlight the name of the link you're creating.
  5. Click the hyperlink button.
  6. Add the shareable link to the hyperlink section.
  7. NOW!

This is what it looks like when you're finding the Shareable Link!

Now...head on over to the next blog in the hop to find out about more awesome teacher tips!!

Global Glitter Tribe Monthly Linkup!

It's a linky party kind of weekend over here!

I am just loving these linkups that drive awesome content onto our blogs. Don't get me wrong! I love linkup like "What I Wore Wednesday" or "Sunday Scoop" where I just hangout and chat about life. However, these linkups truly kick things up a notch in my teaching. I love reflecting on what I'm doing as a teacher and learning about what everyone else is doing as well!

I'm sure you know by now that I am a dedicated Global Glitter Blogger! I'm a true blogging addict.

   GRATEFUL
One thing that I'm eternally grateful for is that I've been given the opportunity to view things from a more global perspective. Traveling internationally has really transformed the way that I look at the world and altered the lens through which I view people and the world.

   LOCAL
One way that I teach a local perspective to my students is by supporting local farms and businesses. I always try to bring in resources from local shops and support small businesses in our community. We also do field trips to local farms and learn a lot about what our community manufactures and produces. Part of understanding the world comes from first understanding what we give to the world.

  ORGANIZATION
I am still crushing on my Erin Condren planner. I love how it's helping me outline deadlines and keep moving forward on projects. This is exactly what I needed to set small goals for myself and make progress on all of my projects. It's nice to be able to organize all aspects of my life in one place. Plus, it's so adorable!

   BROAD PERSPECTIVES
One way that I'm helping my students learn to think of other perspectives is by having them buddy up to help teach math and reading to younger students in the school. While this doesn't take the perspective outside of the school building, it does help them move their perspective of learning outside of their individual classroom experiences and understand learning from an entirely different perspective. Plus, it gets them involved in the learning community of our entire school.

   ARTISTS
We've been learning about aquatic ecosystems and murals this month. We've finally finished constructing our aquatic ecosystem mural and it's fabulous! I have to thank my student teacher for taking the reigns here and really making this come to life! The kids loved it and it was both an amazing collaborative project and a great learning experience.

   LET'S CHAT
Something that I would love to hear about in the Global Edventures chat is "school norms." I am fascinated by the way schools run differently in different regions, states, and countries. I'm curious about norms related to collaboration in the classroom, parent involvement, seating arrangements, etc. Wouldn't it be fascinating to learn about what things are normal in different countries?

   COME LINKUP WITH US
Well, that's all I have for today! The link up is live for the rest of the month. I hope that you'll take some time to come and join us!! Click the button below to view the link up, participate, or read other reviews.
